Earlier this week, we told you that Madonna has been in Malawi trying to adopt 4-year-old Mercy James from the Home of Hope Orphanage in Malawi.The hearing was set to resume today and rumor had it that Madonna’s request would be accepted. Nope.
According to the Associated Press, Madonna's request to adopt has been rejected because of a requirement that prospective parents be resident in the country for 18 to 24 months.
The news came from a judge and a lawyer, both said to be present when the ruling was made and both spoke under conditions of anonymity.
