Woman flees rapist stepdad but ends up as sex slave

Sumber

A TWENTY-ONE-year-old woman, who had run away from home after being raped by her stepfather, ended up being a sex slave to a stranger.

She left her village in Kelantan last month, hoping to put the past behind and for better days ahead in Kuala Lumpur. But her search for a job as a shop assistant led her to an even bitter experience.

During her job hunt, she met a stranger in Rawang and followed him home, thinking he was a good Samaritan who had offered to provide her with shelter.

Harian Metro, quoting a source, reported that she was instead locked up in the house and raped repeatedly for a month.

On Wednesday morning, she managed to escape from the house in Bukit Permai, Ampang, when her captor was fast asleep.

Police are hunting for the suspect.

> Harian Metro also reported that there were no indecent photographs or video clips of singer Farawahida stored in the cellphone of well-known composer Julfekar Ahmad, 45.

The 24-year-old singer had lodged a police report accusing Julfekar of threatening to distribute the photographs and video images of her.

A police source revealed that there were no such item found in the mobile phone when the composer surrendered it to the police on Monday.

“Although initial investigations did not find any threatening video clips or SMS messages, the mobile phone will be sent to the forensics department for more checks,” he said.

“We can also get help from the Malaysian Cyber Security Centre to retrieve information that had been deleted from the phone.”

Mothers And Doctor

A mother and her daughter were at the gynecologist's office. The mother asked the doctor to examine her daughter.

"She has been having some strange symptoms and I'm worried about her," the mother said.

The doctor examined the daughter carefully and then announced, "Madam, I believe your daughter is pregnant."

The mother gasped, "That's nonsense! Why, my little girl has nothing whatsoever to do with men." She turned to the girl. "You don't, do you, dear?"

"No, mumsy," said the girl. "Why, you know that I have never so much as kissed a man!"

The doctor looked from mother to daughter, and back again. Then, silently he stood up and walked to the window, staring out.He continued staring until the mother felt compelled to ask,

"Doctor, is there something wrong out there?"

"No, Madam," said the doctor. "It's just that the last time anything like this happened, a star appeared in the East and I was looking to see if another one was going to show up."

Husband & Doctor

A man speaks frantically into the phone, "My wife is pregnant, and her contractions are only two minutes apart!"

King of Pop Michael Jackson is dead - LA Times

By Bob Tourtellotte

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop giant Michael Jackson, who took to the stage as a child star and set the world dancing to exuberant rhythms for decades, died on Thursday after being taken ill at his home, the Los Angeles Times said. He was 50.

"Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times," the newspaper reported on its website.

The paper's report followed news of Jackson's death first reported by the TMZ entertainment website.

There was no immediate comment from spokespersons for Jackson, who was known as the "King of Pop," for hit albums that included "Thriller" and "Billie Jean."

He had been scheduled to launch a comeback tour from London next month.

TMZ said on its website that "Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back."

Earlier, the Los Angeles Times said the singer had been rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital by fire department paramedics who found him not breathing when they arrived at the singer's home.

The newspaper said paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene before taking him to the UCLA Medical Center hospital.

COMEBACK CONCERTS

Jackson had been due to start a series of concerts in London on July 13 running until March 2010. The singer had been rehearsing in the Los Angeles area for the past two months.

The shows for the 50 London concerts sold out within minutes of going on sale in March.

His lifetime record sales tally is believed to be around 750 million, which, added to the 13 Grammy Awards he received, makes him one of the most successful entertainers of all time.

He lived as a virtual recluse since his acquittal in 2005 on charges of child molestation.

There were concerns about Jackson's health in recent years but the promoters of the London shows, AEG Live, said in March that Jackson had passed a 4-1/2 hour physical examination with independent doctors.

CHILD STAR TO MEGASTAR

Jackson was born on Aug. 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, the seventh of nine children. Five Jackson boys -- Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael -- first performed together at a talent show when Michael was 6. They walked off with first prize and went on to become a best-selling band, The Jackson Five, and then The Jackson 5.

Jackson made his first solo album in 1972, and released "Thriller" in 1982, which became a smash hit that yielded seven top-10 singles. The album sold 21 million copies in the United States and at least 27 million worldwide.

The next year, he unveiled his signature "moonwalk" dance move while performing "Billie Jean" during an NBC special.

In 1994, Jackson married Elvis Presley's only child, Lisa Marie, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1996. Jackson married Debbie Rowe the same year and had two children, before splitting in 1999. The couple never lived together.

Jackson has three children named Prince Michael I, Paris Michael and Prince Michael II, known for his brief public appearance when his father held him over the railing of a hotel balcony, causing widespread criticism.

MACC nabs lecturer who demanded sex and money to pass students

KUALA LUMPUR: A lecturer at a private international university who allegedly demanded sex and money from his students in return for better grades has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The man, a foreigner in his 40s who lectures in Cyberjaya, was arrested at about 5pm after a victim lodged a report with the MACC.

It is learnt the woman, 24, sat for a qualifying exam to enable her to continue her Masters’ degree.

After sitting for her papers, she was allegedly approached by her lecturer who told her she did not do well in her exam.

He then allegedly told her that he could help her provided she agreed to give in to his demands.
He was said to have initially asked her for sexual favours but when she refused, he demanded money as well if she wanted to pass the exam.

The lecturer was also said to have uttered words that caused the woman to be fearful.
MACC director of investigations Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdull confirmed the arrest but declined to elaborate.

Meanwhile, in Parliament, in his written reply to a question by N. Gobalakrishnan (PKR — Padang Serai), Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said the MACC has concluded two investigations into alleged money politics involving Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

Nazri said the investigation papers would be forwarded to the commission’s legal and prosecution department for a decision.

He added that the case involving a branch chief and Umno Rendang divisional delegates in garnering support for Mohd Ali as the Umno vice-president has been closed.

The case was decided as a ‘no further action’ case and closed on May 25.

In Putrajaya, the MACC arrested two men for making false statements over a housing loan application.

The suspects, aged 31 and 38, were said to have used a false architect’s certificate to apply for a home loan of more than RM152,000 from a bank.

They were detained in Kelantan.

Father's Day Jokes

Martin had just received his brand new drivers license. The family troops out to the driveway, and climbs in the car, where he is going to take them for a ride for the first time. Dad immediately heads for the back seat, directly behind the newly minted driver.

"I'll bet you're back there to get a change of scenery after all those months of sitting in the front passenger seat teaching me how to drive," says the beaming boy to his father.

"Nope," comes dad's reply, "I'm gonna sit here and kick the back of your seat as you drive, just like you've been doing to me all these years."

An Army brat was boasting about his father to a Navy brat.

"My dad is an engineer. He can do everything. Do you know the Alps?"

"Yes," said the Navy brat.

"My dad has built them."

Then the naval kid spoke: "And do you know the Dead Sea?"

"Yes."

"It's my dad who's killed it!"

An honest lawyer Jokes

An independent woman started her own business. She was shrewd and diligent, so business kept coming in. Pretty soon she realized she needed an in-house counsel, and so she began interviewing young lawyers.

"As I'm sure you can understand," she started off with one of the first applicants, "in a business like this, our personal integrity must be beyond question." She leaned forward. "Mr. Peterson, are you an 'honest' lawyer?"

"Honest?" replied the job prospect. "Let me tell you something about honest. Why, I'm so honest that my dad lent me fifteen thousand dollars for my education and I paid back every penny the minute I tried my very first case."

"Impressive. And what sort of case was that?

"He squirmed in his seat and admitted, "My dad sued me for the money."

Photographer Jokes

The Smiths had no children and decided to use a proxy father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife and said, "I'm off. The man should be here soon".

Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer rang the doorbell, hoping to make a sale.

"Good morning madam. You don't know me, but I've come to...."

"Oh, no need to explain. I've been expecting you," Mrs. Smith cut in.

"Really?" the photographer asked. "Well, good! I've made a specialty of babies."

"That's what my husband and I had hoped. Please come in and have a seat. Just where do we start?" asked Mrs. Smith, blushing.

"Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bathtub, one on the couch and perhaps a couple on the bed. Sometimes the living room floor is fun too; you can really spread out."

"Bathtub, living room floor? No wonder it didn't work for Harry and me."

"Well, madam, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if we try several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results."

"I hope we can get this over with quickly," gasped Mrs. Smith.

"Madam, in my line of work, a man must take his time. I'd love to be in and out in five minutes, but you'd bedisappointed with that, I'm sure."

"Don't I know!!" Mrs. Smith exclaimed.

The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby pictures. "This was done on the top of a bus in downtown London."

"Oh my God!!" Mrs. Smith exclaimed, tugging at her handkerchief."And these twins turned out exceptionally well when you consider their mother was so difficult to work with."

The photographer handed Mrs. Smith the picture.

"She was difficult?" asked Mrs. Smith.

"Yes, I'm afraid so I finally had to take her to Hyde Park to get the job done right. People were crowding around four and five deep, pushing to get a good look."

"Four and five deep?" asked Mrs. Smith, eyes widened in amazement.

"Yes," the photographer said. "And for more than three hours too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling. I could hardly concentrate. Then darkness approached and I began to rush my shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment I just packed it all in."

Mrs. Smith leaned forward. "You mean they actually chewed on your, er..,um.., ah.... equipment?"

"That's right. Well madam, if you're ready, I'll set up my tripod so that we can get to work."

"Tripod??" Mrs. Smith looked extremely worried now.

"Oh yes, I have to use a tripod to rest my Canon on. It's much too big for me to hold while I'm getting ready for action. Madam? Madam? Good Lord, she's fainted!!

First Singaporean Women Team Conquer Mt Everest

By Zakaria Abdul Wahab

SINGAPORE, May 20 (Bernama) -- Three Singaporean women became the republic's first women team to conquer Mt Everest when they reached the summit of the world's tallest mountain in Nepal early Wednesday morning, reports said.

Lee Li Hui, 27, Esther Tan, 26, and Jane Lee, 25, arrived at 3.45am, 3.54am and 4.43am on Wednesday Nepal time respectively, reports said quoting a spokesman from Singtel, the local sponsor of telecommunication equipment for the climbers.

Another foreign media report said the Singaporean women reached the summit along with the first oldest American climber Dawes Eddy, 66, and a US Astronaut Scott Parazynski.

The Singapore women began their ascent on May 8.

Clear weather and low winds on Mt Everest on Tuesday allowed at least 20 climbers to scale the 8,850-metre peak from the Nepalese side while dozens more were reportedly moving up the icy slopes, the Nepal mountaineering authority said.

It said there were dozens more who were heading up the slopes and expected to summit in a day or two because of the improved weather.-- BERNAMA

Cousins gang-raped during double date

IPOH: Two cousins thought they were in for a romantic night with their boyfriends.

However, the double date turned into a nightmare instead when the girls were gang-raped by nine men.

Gerik OCPD Supt Mahad Nor Abdullah said the boyfriends, in their 20s, joined in the rape after picking the girls up from their homes in Kati, Kuala Kangsar, last Wednesday.

The girls, aged 16 and 17, were brought to a picnic spot at Lata Lawin, about 20km from Gerik.

There, they found seven other men waiting at a gazebo at about 10pm.

“The seven turned out to be friends of the boyfriends.

“We believe this meant they had had planned to rape the girls all along,” Supt Mahad said yesterday.

Each boyfriend, he said, forced himself on the girls before passing her to his friends.

The victims’ ordeal dragged on to the next day before they were abandoned.

Several villagers found them and sent them home at 7am.

The girls, who are school dropouts, lodged police reports at the Kati police station on Friday.

Supt Mahad Nor said police had picked up three suspects so far, including the boyfriends, from their homes in Kuala Kangsar and Gerik.

“We are tracing the other six men, who are all in their 20s,” he said.

Husband And Wife Jokes

Jealous Husband
A jealous husband hired a private detective to check on the movements of his wife. The husband wanted more than a written report; he wanted video of his wife's activities.

A week later, the detective returned with a video. They sat down together to watch it. Although the quality was less than professional, the man saw his wife meeting another man!

He saw the two of them laughing in the park. He saw them enjoying themselves at an outdoor cafe.

He saw them dancing in a dimly lit nightclub. He saw the man and his wife participate in a dozen activities with utter glee.

"I just can't believe this," the distraught husband said.

The detective said, "What's not to believe? It's right up there on the screen!"

The husband replied, "I can't believe that my wife could be so much fun!"
I Can Not Tell a Lie
A married man and his secretary were having a torrid affair. One afternoon they couldn't contain their passion, so they rushed over to her place where they spent the afternoon making passionate love. When they were finished, they fell asleep, not waking until 8 o'clock that night.

They got dressed quickly. Then the man asked his secretary to take his shoes outside and rub them on the lawn. Bewildered, she did as he asked, thinking him pretty weird.

The man finally got home and his wife met him at the door. Upset, she asked where he'd been.
The man replied, "I can not tell a lie. My secretary and I are having an affair. Today we left work early, went to her place, spent the afternoon making love, and then fell asleep. That's why I'm late."

The wife looked at him, took notice of his shoes, and yelled, "I can see those are grass stains on your shoes. YOU LIAR! You've been playing golf again, haven't you?"
My Wife
A man complains to a friend, "I can't take it anymore."

KUALA LUMPUR: Temperatures have been rising all over the country, with Klang Valley (Subang) recording 35.6°C last Friday.

Outside the Klang Valley, Pahang (Batu Embun) experienced the hottest temperature last Thursday at 36.2°C.

The Meteorological Department said the hot and generally dry spell was expected to persist until September.

Department chief assistant director (central forecast office) Ahmad Zaki Mohamad Saad said the weather pattern was a usual phenomenon in the country.

He said that April and May were the hottest months according to climatology studies.
“The change of wind direction during the inter-monsoon season last month has caused the weather to be drier,’’ he said.

Ahmad Zaki said the country would experience the South-West monsoon from mid-May to September which usually brought a dry spell, he said.

He said although humid weather was forecast during the day, occasional rain and thunderstorms could be expected.

The maximum temperature is expected to range from 30.7°C to 34.1°C.

Shopping Humour

Give me free meat
It was many years ago since the embarrassing day when a young woman, with a baby in her arms, entered his butcher shop and confronted him with the news that the baby was his and asked what was he going to do about it?
Finally he offered to provide her with free meat until the boy was 16. She agreed.
He had been counting the years off on his calendar, and one day the teenager, who had been collecting the meat each week, came into the shop and said, "I'll be 16 tomorrow."
"I know," said the butcher with a smile, "I've been counting too, tell your mother, when you take this parcel of meat home, that it is the last free meat she'll get, and watch the expression on her face."
When the boy arrived home he told his mother. The woman nodded and said, "Son, go back to the butcher and tell him I have also had free bread, free milk, and free groceries for the last 16 years and watch the expression on his face!"
Caught stealing
A shoplifter was caught red-handed trying to steal a watch from an exclusive jewelry store.
"Listen," said the shoplifter, "I know you don't want any trouble either. What do you say I just buy the watch, and we forget about this?"
The manager agreed and wrote up the sales slip. The crook looked at the slip and said, "This is a little more than I intended to spend. Can you show me something less expensive?"
The crowded store
It was the day of the big sale. Rumors of the sale (and some advertising in the local paper) were the main reason for the long line that formed by 8:30, the store's opening time, in front of the store.
A small man pushed his way to the front of the line, only to be pushed back, amid loud and colorful curses.
On the man's second attempt, he was punched square in the jaw, and knocked around a bit, and then thrown to the end of the line again. As he got up the second time, he said to the person at the end of the line...
"That does it! If they hit me one more time, I won't open the store!"

After 24 hours, women pregnant death because of snatch theft, today one more same cases happen at Kelantan..

From Thestar

By SYED AZHAR and C.A. ZULKIFLI

KOTA BARU: Another pregnant woman met with a tragic end in a snatch theft when she fell off her motorcycle and was run over by a car.

Handbag slung around her neck, Saripah Mohd Nor, 34 and four months’ pregnant (pic), was riding her motorcycle through Kampung Padang Raja, Melor, Ketereh, here yesterday morning when two snatch thieves pounced on her.

One of the thieves tugged at her bag till the strap broke. Saripah’s motorcycle then grazed the suspects’ motorcycle and she fell off her vehicle. A car travelling in the opposite direction rammed into Saripah, killing her on the spot.

It was the second such death in just days.

In Ayer Hitam, Johor, on Sunday, expectant mother Jamilah Selamat, 31, fell off her motorcycle onto the pavement when snatch thieves grabbed her bag. She went into a coma and died on Tuesday.

Kota Baru OCPD Asst Comm Zahruddin Abdullah appealed to anyone with information to help police nab the snatch thieves.

He added that the driver of the car had lodged a police report.

In Tumpat, Saripah’s grief-stricken mother, Hashimah Hussin, 54, said her daughter was in the midst of a divorce from Mat Zani Awang, 39.

She said Saripah had five children and was on her way to Mat Zani’s house to bring her eight-year-old son back when the incident happened.

“Her last words to me were to take care of her three-year-old and youngest daughter before she left for her husband’s home in Bachok.

“Lately, she has always been telling me to take care of her children if anything happened to her.”
Saripah was buried at the Kampung Kok Bedullah Muslim cemetery yesterday.

Pregnant woman dies after thieves pull her off motorcycle

From Thestar

by FARIK ZOLKEPLI

JOHOR BARU: The killers on motorcycles have done it again — this time, snatch thieves took two lives when they tried to rob pregnant Jamilah Selamat.

Jamilah, 31, suffered severe head injuries after falling from her motorcycle on Sunday. She died at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital at 7.30am yesterday without regaining consciousness.

Her husband of seven months, trader Razali Ahmad, 41, was a distraught man yesterday.

For him, the tragedy was harder to take because he had just started to taste happiness again after five years when his first wife died of cancer.

The tragedy also leaves Jamilah’s two children from her first marriage — Norasyikin Salleh, seven, and Mohd Khairi Ridwan Salleh, five — without their mother. They looked dazed and clung to their crying stepfather.

Razali said he was told by an eyewitness — his older brother’s friend — that his wife had hit the pavement face first and did not move after that.

“The witness told me that he saw two men on a motorcycle flee the scene immediately after Jamilah fell, and her bag was nowhere to be seen,” he told reporters at the hospital mortuary yesterday.

Razali said Jamilah, a handicraft dealer, was on her way home to Taman Mekar after work that day.

Jamilah had lost her handbag to snatch thieves last year but escaped unharmed. A friend advised her to twirl the handbag around the rearview mirror for a tighter hold.

That move may have been fatal.

When the snatch thieves grabbed Jamilah’s bag, they pulled her motorcycle, causing Jamilah to fall.

“I never thought that I would lose her this way. We were expecting our child, we have only been married for seven months ... I lost my first wife to bone cancer and now, I have lost Jamilah and baby,” he said.

Razali has two teenage children from his previous marriage.

Jamilah and the unborn child were buried at the Ayer Hitam cemetery yesterday.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ibrahim Arif confirmed police received a report on the incident.

Eyewitnesses are urged to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999.

In 2004, a Nanyang Siang Pau clerk, Chong Fee Cheng, 37, died after she lapsed into a coma following a snatch theft in Taman Molek, Johor Bahru.

In December last year, snatch theft victim Lim See Nya, 58, was run over by a three-tonne truck when she lost her balance and fell onto the road, after a motorcycle pillion rider grabbed her handbag in Bukit Mertajam.

The School Joke

Picking on a tardy student

A college business professor could not help but notice that one of his students was late to class for the third time that week.

Before class ended he went around the room asking students some questions about the day's lecture.

Of course, he made sure to pick on his tardy pupil.

"And who was it that developed the theories behind communism?" the professor asked.

"I don't know," the student said.

"Perhaps if you came to class on time, Mr. Reebs, you would know," said the professor.

"That's not true," the student replied. "I never pay attention anyway!"

A student's request for extra money

A student called up his Mom one evening from his college and asked her for some money, because he was broke.

His Mother said, "Sure, sweetie. I will send you some money. You also left your economics book here when you visited two weeks ago. Do you want me to send that up too?"

"Uhh, oh yeah, O.K." responded the kid.

So his Mom wrapped the book along with the checks up in a package, kissed Dad goodbye, and went to the post office to mail the money and the book.

When she gets back, Dad asked, "Well how much did you give the boy this time?"

"Oh, I wrote two checks, one for $20, and the other for $1,000."

"That's $1020!!!" yelled Dad, "Are you going crazy???"

"Don't worry hon," Mom said, kissed Dad on the on top of his bald head, "I taped the $20 check to the cover of his book, but I put the $1,000 one somewhere between the pages in chapter 15!"

Doctor Jokes

A woman goes to her doctor who verifies that she is pregnant. This is her first pregnancy. The doctor asks her if she has any questions.

She replies, "Well, I'm a little worried about the pain. How much will childbirth hurt?"

The doctor answered, "Well, that varies from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy and besides, it's difficult to describe pain."

"I know, but can't you give me some idea?" she asks.

"Grab your upper lip and pull it out a little..."

"Like this?"

"A little more..."

"Like this?"

"No. A little more..."

"Like this?"

"Yes. Does that hurt?"

"A little bit."

"Now stretch it over your head!"

A woman went to her doctor for a follow-up visit after the doctor had prescribed testosterone for her.

She was a little worried about some of the side effects she was experiencing.

"Doctor, the hormones you've been giving me have really helped, but I'm afraid that you're giving me too much. I've started growing hair in places that I've never grown hair before."

The doctor reassured her. "A little hair growth is a perfectly normal side effect of testosterone. Just where has this hair appeared?"

"On my balls."

Swine Flu: Singaporeans Should Be Prepared

By Zakaria Abdul Wahab

SINGAPORE, April 29 (Bernama) -- Singaporeans have been told to be "mentally and psychologically" prepared in facing the current global swine flu outbreak as it is expected to be a long-drawn one, the city state's top ministers said.

Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng and Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan said they also had to remain alert at all times and not to be unduly alarmed even if Singapore could possibly be hit by the flu.

Speaking at a press conference to update on the swine flu outbreak at the Information, Communications and the Arts Ministry here today, Wong said the government was treating the swine flu outbreak as not a medical problem but a total problem that required medical and non-medical response.

He said, unlike during the SARS crisis in 2003 when the government was ill-prepared to handle it, the country was now more prepared to deal with the swine flu outbreak and was deploying resources across all government departments to tackle it.

Wong said swine flu was different from SARS as the victims could not be easily identified and separated from the general public as the symptoms of the flu were only visible and known after a week.

Khaw said as the swine flu was more contagious and spread more rapidly, Singaporeans should maintain a high standard of personal hygiene such as washing their hands before eating, and covering their face when coughing or sneezing.

Describing it as a new war, he said the swine flu was more difficult to deal with and more challenging, and he gave three reasons for saying that.

Firstly, he said the swine flu was more contagious; secondly, patients could be infected before symptoms appeared, and lastly, historically, flu pandemic tended to come in waves with the initial wave looking mild but the second one could be quite lethal.

Since the global flu outbreak, only 17 cases had been referred to the local medical institutions for checks for swine flu, and so far, four of the cases were tested negative for Influenza A, the virus type associated with swine flu.-- BERNAMA

Deputy Minister Saravanan Catches HKL Doctors 'Napping'

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) -- Deputy Minister of Federal Territories Datuk M. Saravanan today "caught" two doctors at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) emergency department reading newspapers and doing their own stuff instead of attending to more than 20 patients in pain waiting for treatment.

Saravanan made the shocking discovery at about 10.30am when he went to the hospital to visit a university student who was injured after he was knocked down by a car driven by his (Saravanan's) driver.

"I, too, waited for a while for the girl to be treated and, realising that none of the patients were being called in by the doctors, I opened the door to the treatment room.

I was shocked to find one doctor reading a newspaper and the other minding his own business and doing his own stuff.

"There were more than 20 patients outside waiting for treatment. This should not be the way doctors work. The patient should come first.

Furthermore, it is an emergency unit, which is supposed to be fast in dispensing treatment," the visibly irked Saravanan told Bernama.

The deputy minister said he reprimanded the doctors for their behaviour and demanded to see a superior who, he said, appeared after 30 minutes.

"After that, those waiting were promptly treated. Why couldn't the doctors attend to the patients first? This should not be the way service at government hospitals is dispensed," he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in one of his surprise visits to the city centre yesterday, said he wanted front-line government establishments in the federal capital to improve their services to the people.

Saravanan said that though he had caught the doctors by chance, he would from now on make it a point to conduct surprise visits to departments under his ministry to ensure that front-line staff did their job of serving the people.

"This is an eye-opener. We, as leaders, just cannot afford to pay lip service and not check whether work is done by the front-line government servants. We have to go down (to the ground) to ensure that speedy solutions are found for the people's problems.

"What more in this case where people are in pain and undergoing agony due to the pain. If they were not suffering, they would not have come to the emergency unit. This is a lesson for all hospitals. Please work for the people if you are in the civil service," he said.

Meanwhile, HKL director Datuk Dr Zaininah Mohd Zain, in responding to Saravanan's remarks, said the hospital would get details of the incident and if there was any element of irresponsibility, it would be the first to take the appropriate action.

She said the hospital's investigation showed that there were only eight patients and 20 relatives and that none of the patients was in pain because "we practise holistic pain care service and pain (is assessed) as the fifth vital sign".

"Our hardworking doctors are but human," she said, adding that browsing a newspaper when there were no cases in his (doctor's) room should not be interpreted as neglecting his responsibility.

"We do not condone lazy or irresponsible doctors but (having) understanding, caring and hardworking doctors is also our obligation," she said in a text message to Bernama.

Dr Zaininah said the HKL Emergency Department was a very busy department that managed 550 cases per day and was served by six medical officers in every eight-hour shift (of three shifts per day) with one specialist, one consultant and one (supervising) senior consultant per day.

"The challenge of patient loads is ever increasing, up to 30 per cent due to the current economic crisis."Despite this situation, we have served well in a systematic manner with the triage system to sort out and manage cases according to priority," she said.

Dr Zaininah said HKL would continue to evaluate, supervise and maintain a high quality of service but support and understanding from the public were crucial to sustaining a high standard of service continuously.-- BERNAMA

SMS Cheats Target Professionals

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- The police are on the trail of a foreign syndicate which hoodwinks unsuspecting local credit card holders into parting with their money.

The syndicate is known to use Bank Negara's name when contacting potential victims, via the short messaging service (SMS) and the telephone.

Initial investigations have revealed that it usually targeted professionals and duped them into believing they had not settled their credt card arrears.

It would also threaten to terminate their credit card services if payment was not prompt. The victims were then instructed to settle the 'arrears' by banking the money in a foreign bank account.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said the police had received about 20 reports relating to the scam, since early this year.

He said that of late, such scams were being carried out almost daily, with the biggest involving a professional who was fleeced of RM43,000.

Arjunaidi was speaking to reporters after opening the new commercial crime and narcotics division at Menara Choi Fok On here.

He said the syndicate was able to dupe victims by using Bank Negara's name when they contacted the victims through the SMS and telephone.

Arjunaidi said the police were unable to track down the syndicate as it changed bank accounts from time to time to avoid detection by the authorities.-- BERNAMA

KLANG: Two female cleaners who could not come up with any money during a robbery were instead forced to perform oral sex on the robber.

The women, aged 68 and 43, were waiting for their factory van at a bus stop in Jalan Kem in Port Klang at 6.30am when a car stopped in front of them.

The driver pointed a parang at them and demanded for money.

Toy boy clubs for the rich and jaded

TOY boys are the new craze in Singapore nightclubs, Sin Chew Daily and China Press reported.

The newspapers reported yesterday that rich men’s wives did not mind paying the toy boys RM3,500 each to spend an evening with them.

If the women want to bring the boys out for supper, they will be charged RM350 an hour.

A regular patron, Madam Wang, 42, said she had to visit the toy boy clubs daily, failing which she would feel uneasy.

Admitting that her family would break up if her businessman husband found out about her “hobby”, Madam Wang said she could not keep herself away from the clubs.

When met by reporters at a club, Madam Wang was with a Thai toy boy.

She said: “He makes me feel young, something which my husband fails to do.”

Checks with several toy boys found that they also offer sexual services if asked by the women.

A popular toy boy may earn about RM4,600 a night, said one of them.

> Sin Chew Daily also reported that a Filipina maid in Singapore threatened suicide after footages of her bullying her employer’s two-year-old son were shown to her.

The footages were recorded using CCTV installed by her employer.

The images showed the maid using her right hand to cover the boy’s mouth because the toddler refused to stop crying.

Vehicles sold but still in owners’ names

KUANTAN: Some 1.3 million vehicles sold by their original owners have been found to be still registered in their names.

Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general Datuk Solah Mat Hassan said that as a result, the department received a monthly average of five complaints from original owners in every state.

Most involve receiving fines for parking and speeding offences even though the vehicles had been sold.

“We view this matter seriously. Compli-cations arise when such vehicles are involved in accidents or are used to commit crimes,” he told reporters after chairing a dialogue with car dealers, insurance firms and financial institutions here yesterday.

Solah said the frequent excuse given by used car dealers to delay the transfer of ownership was that they were waiting for buyers.

He said the JPJ was in the midst of finalising an electronic interim transfer of ownership system.
Once fully operational by the end of this year, such delay in transferring ownership would not be allowed.

“The Malaysian Used Cars Associations have given their undertaking to transfer ownership within the seven-day time frame once the new system is up and operational,” he said.

He said those who failed to do so could face a fine of up to RM2,000.

Solah said the Government had allocated a sum of RM400mil to change all computers and upgrade the entire system to improve JPJ’s delivery system.

On Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat’s reappointment as Transport Minister, Solah said Ong would certainly continue to work hard in discharging his duties.

“I wish to congratulate him and pledge to give our full support and co-operation,” he said

How long should a guy wait to call after the first date??

This can be a very difficult thing for a guy to know. They can become nervous about giving the wrong impression by calling too quickly or too late.

The “Old School Rule” would suggest that you wait exactly two days before calling her back. In today’s world there really is not set rule on when to call a girl back. It all depends on how the date went and what kind of connection the two of you made. If the date went really well you probably want to call sooner rather than later. If the date was just ok or she didn’t really open up then you might want to wait a little longer before calling her again. More than week of not calling tends to be a little too long in most situations.

Another option to calling is text messaging. A simple text message saying that you enjoyed hanging out last night can be a nice bridge between the first date and the first call. This could technically be done in a email as well but it can be a little too impersonal of a follow-up after a first date.

The truth is that there really is no set rule on when to call her after a date. Listen to what your gut tells you and enjoy getting to know someone new!

Kelantan Mungkin Tarik Diri Dari Liga Malaysia

13 Rabiul Akhir 14309

April 2009

YB Encik Nga Kor Ming
EXCO Kerajaan Negeri Perak
Pejabat EXCO Negeri Perak
30000 IpohPERAK DARUL RIDZUAN.

Saya mempunyai sebuah impian.

FAM Denda Kafa RM90,000 Kerana Insiden Buruk

Paris Hilton Getting Married?

Getting Married is "HOT"

Doesn't seem like Paris Hilton and her athlete boyfriend Doug Reinhardt have been dating that long. However, that's not stopping the rumors from flying around that they are planning to get married this summer. Who started these rumors? Paris.

Last weekend, Paris told E! Online's Hollywood Party Girl that Doug is "going to be my husband." Did she mean this year? Well, now other sources claiming to be close to the couple are saying that they are thinking of getting married in August in the Bahamas.
Sounds like there are no set plans and something tells me that Paris Hilton isn't an 'elope on the beach' kind of gal. She seems more like someone who would plan an elaborate wedding while keeping the media in the loop and take advantage of those precious photo opportunities.

But, I could be wrong.

Polis Cedera Ditikam Dan Digigit Penagih Dadah

Kelantan Kalah, Penonton merusuh.

Kemenangan 2-1

Rakyat membuktikan kertas undi mereka amat bernilai.

BN sepatutnya mula sedar kenapa prestasi mereka semakin teruk.
